Miriam Gaynor

Merge Advisory Member

Kia ora,

My name is Miriam. I live in Wellington and have been working as a teacher in mainstream schools for the past 9 years. I have spent 2017 working towards a Masters of Learning Intervention at the University of Melbourne, where my studies focussed mainly on how to effectively provide inclusive education and targeted instruction for learners who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing. I am particularly interested in the development, teaching, assessment, and promotion of New Zealand Sign Language within schools. NZSL has an important place in our education system. I am thrilled to be joining the Advisory Board for Merge NZ and look forward to contributing to, and learning more about, their work surrounding the promotion of NZSL throughout Aotearoa.
