Join our interactive 3-week crash course tailored for emergency services. This course equips you with emergency-related signs for effective communication with Deaf survivors and community members. Starting Thursday, 23rd November from 8.00pm - 9.00pm.

Class One - Personal Information
- Greetings and introductions
- Family inquiries
- Seeking clarification, correction and confirmation
- Emergency service professions
- Numbers 1 - 10
Class Two - Emergency Situations
- Describing common emergency scenarios
- Naming emergency supplies
- Discussing wellbeing
- Understanding the Deaf 111 Text emergency service
- Exploring Deaf culture and effective ways to gain attention
Class Three - Safety
- Giving and receiving simple directions
- Telling time in NZSL
- Counting up to 20
- Discussing safety equipment and measures
- Highlighting the significance of facial expressions in emergency situations.
- To participate, you'll need a computer/laptop with a camera and an internet connection. Tablets or mobile phones are not recommended.
- Minimum enrollment of 4 students is required for the course to proceed.
