NZSL Club
Invitation to join and/or faciliate NZSL Club
We are seeking two facilitators, one hearing and one Deaf to work together for their local NZSL Clubs.
NZSL Clubs were set up three years ago by Merge NZ, and they provided access for all NZSL learners and users to get together with fun-themed activities to interact by using NZSL more naturally and effectively.

Merge NZ is bringing it back on thanks to
the generous grant from the NZSL Board.

Where will NZSL Clubs be established?
The planned NZSL Clubs will (probably?) be in Auckland, Dunedin and Christchurch and with two probable locations either in Whangarei, Mangawhai, Hamilton, Wellington, or Hawkes Bay.
What does the NZSL Club facilitator role involve?
The NZSL Club facilitator’s role is to connect participants who have undergone NZSL training, to facilitate and create practice opportunities that encourage and lead to the normalisation of NZSL.

What NZSL skills and level do you need to become a facilitator?
To become a facilitator, you need to have learnt NZSL at Level 2 or higher. However, we are open to accepting individuals with some NZSL skills who can effectively communicate with Deaf individuals.
We are particularly interested in Deaf and Hard of Hearing facilitators who are fluent users of NZSL.

When will NZSL Clubs start, and how often?
NZSL Clubs will start from February 2025 to May 2025, every fortnight in the evening during the week.

Would you like to help run an NZSL Club and engage with NZSL participants through enjoyable activities conducted entirely in NZSL in your local area?
If you're interested in becoming an NZSL Club Facilitator in your home town, please fill out the application form (see on your right), and our NZSL Learning & Development Co-ordinator will be in touch with you
if your application is successful.

How many facilitators will you hire?
There are 10 paid positions available: one Deaf and one hearing facilitator at five locations.

What is the deadline to apply?
Please fill out the application form before Friday 15 November.

Once you have become a Merge NZSL Club facilitator, then your local NZSL Club will be placed on the map on the Merge NZ website.
