NZSL Club

Information about NZSL Clubs planned for 2025

Merge NZ is excited to host NZSL Club again in early 2025!

NZSL Clubs were set up three years ago, and they provided access for all NZSL learners and users to get together with fun-themed activities to interact by using NZSL more naturally and effectively.

Merge NZ is bringing it back on thanks to

the generous grant from the NZSL Board.

Where will NZSL Clubs be established?

Three NZSL Clubs locations have been confirmed in Hawkes Bay, Wellington and Christchurch and with two probable locations in West Auckland and Tauranga.

What does the NZSL Club facilitator role involve?

The NZSL Club facilitator’s role is to connect participants who have undergone NZSL training, to facilitate and create practice opportunities that encourage and lead to the normalisation of NZSL. To date, we have recruited 6 facilitators (x2 from each locations) and we will recruit 4 more facilitators soon. â€‹

When will NZSL Clubs start, and how often?

NZSL Clubs will begin every fortnight on the week of 10th February and run for an hour until the end of May. All NZSL Clubs will be totally immersed in NZSL.

Will there be other NZSL Clubs in other towns?

Actually, still, we hope to set up more NZSL Clubs in other towns after this project. However, please register your interest; we hope to make it happen only if you are happy to lead these NZSL Clubs.

NZSL Club Participants

I want to participate at NZSL Club, what do I need to do?

No worries, please go ahead and submit EOI (Expression of Interest) by clicking the orange 'Yes, interested' button. Please share your details, e.g. your location and your NZSL signing level. Once we have organised a team of NZSL Club Facilitators, we will be in touch with you all by mid-late January 2025 with details such as your local facilitators, venues, dates and times.

  • Time is TBD
    Location is TBD
This expression of interest is to gauge interest in your area. This club will allow individuals to come together on a regular basis to practise and polish up their NZSL skill. Registering your interest does not commit to a practice set up but the data will assist us in making informed decisions.
