NZSL Onsite courses

Merge NZ offers New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) courses in local areas with team of NZSL teachers (mix of trainee and provisional/qualified teachers).

 

Course levels:

You can choose any level to suit your needs, for example:

  • NZSL Crash Course (partly from Level 1a) - 3 weeks only

  • Beginner (Level 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d) - first year

  • Intermediate (Level 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d) - second year

  • Advanced (Level 3a, 3b, 3c and 3d) - third year

 

Duration:

We run 3 week for NZSL Crash course or 8-week onsite courses (once a week at 2 hours per week, usually in the evenings in local community centres). In some cases, if there is no local teacher, we will be offering NZSL Hybrid course, which is blended learning at 1.5 hours per week for 6 weeks.

 

​Start dates for NZSL Onsite Courses in 2026

  • Term 1: Monday, 9 February – Thursday, 2 April - Completed

  • Term 2: Monday, 20 April – Friday, 3 July - Completed

  • Term 3: Onsite courses are on hold while we review our course structure and delivery model.

  • Term 4: Dates to be confirmed following the programme review.

    This Expression of interest is to gauge interest in your area. If there is enough NZSL students (min. is 7 students) then the class will go ahead depending on teacher/venue's availability.
