NZSL Online course - Adv (Part 1)

Learn NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) online via MySign!

You will have an online class with qualified NZSL tutor to teach you and it is fully interactive - just online! 8 weeks online course starting Monday, 17th January 7.45pm - 9.15pm. This is suitable for students who have completed NZSL Intermediate (Part 4) online or Level 2d onsite.

Dates: 17th January to 7th March 

Course fee:  $150 for full 8 week class incl. weekly handouts/homework

Level: NZSL Advanced - Part 1 (Level 3, Units 18 & 19)

At the end of this course, you will learn: 

Unit 18 - Narrating unforgettable moments

• develop essential skills needed to tell a short story successfully
• use extended role-shifting to enhance the story
• learn the important of maintaining spatial agreement when using role shifting
• learn to sequence classifiers in order to fully describe what happened
• elaborate on the story by giving descriptions, sharing thoughts and giving reasons.

Unit 19 - Telling about accidents

• learn to time their reactions to coincide with falls, trips, or other types of mishaps
• develop skills for sharing about an incident with a bicycle or car
• talk about an incident with a horse with the ability to switch effortlessly between different classifiers representing the horse, the rider and a barrier in both the real world and abstract frames
• learn to time their reactions to coincide with the actions, and to role shift perspectives
