During International Week of Deaf People, landmarks and buildings around the world light up blue to celebrate sign languages and support Deaf communities.

Blue has been connected with the World Federation of the Deaf since it was founded in 1951. Today, it represents Deaf pride, unity and the continuing campaign for equality and sign language rights.

​

Merge NZ encourages businesses, organisations and communities to light up their buildings in blue during International Week of Deaf People. It is a fun and visible way to support your local Deaf community and celebrate NZSL.

On 23 September, look out for buildings and landmarks shining blue for the International Day of Sign Languages!
